We made something fun with Cloetta and Hasan & Partners for the summer. Sauna, beer and Sisu are crucial for our survival in Finland. The forces of nature will have no mercy on us though. This ad serves as a safety demonstration displaying some of the most regular northern summer hazards.
We had a busy spring at Khimoo with the creative bunch of Hasan & Partners and their client Cloetta, home of the classic Sisu candy.
As you may be aware, "Sisu" according to wikipedia stands for the following. Sisu is extraordinary determination in the face of extreme adversity, and courage that is presented typically in situations where success is unlikely.
Typically nasty giant cyborg mosquitos, flesh eating blood thirsty nettles and those ever annoying beer floaters.
This in mind, we decided to build a survival guide to Finnish summer in the form of an advertising campaign. Sisu candy is the ONE and ONLY trick against the typically nasty giant cyborg mosquitos, flesh eating blood thirsty nettles and those ever annoying beer floaters; for the latter we even have warning signs for.
However, Sisu is not to keep the buggering creatures away from you. It'll simply boost your extraordinary determination in the face of extreme adversity, and courage that is presented typically in situations where success is unlikely. Also, it's delicious.
This film is purely a friendly reminder what you'll need when trying to get in the middle of countryside to enjoy a simple sauna time with your friends.
Summer was approaching fast when the good people at Hasan & Partners approached us. This was in early March. We were already having constant nightmares about the summer hazards and they had an idea.

We had to be able to recreate the evil forces of nature to demonstrate the power of Sisu by showing people what it means to be at harms way in the middle of a Finnish lakeside forrest. Yet, it was only early spring and the cyborg mosquitos, flesh eating nettles and especially the beer floaters were resting, awaiting for the summer's warmth. There was no way to capture these buggers on film at that time. We had to make all that future reality happen by computer graphics and filming every actor and prop in a studio setup.
This was tough as there are no such quality level computer graphics that will ever give justice to how horrible the things really are. Nonetheless, we did our best and present to you the official Finnish Summer Safety Demonstration film by Sisu, Cloetta and Hasan & Partners. It goes by the official name of Sisu Summer and with the products "Tuima", "Pätkä" and "Ruletti". So pick your taste for Sisu and jump right in to the summer without a worry in the world.
The power of Sisu will be with you. Always... just remember to keep it with you!
